Firecracker Hot Dogs (Print Version)

Crescent-rolled hot dogs brushed with butter and garlic, baked until golden. Great for cookouts and gatherings.

# What You Need:

→ Meats

01 - 8 beef or turkey hot dogs

→ Dough & Pastry

02 - 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
03 - 8 thin slices cheddar or American cheese (optional)

→ Toppings

04 - 2 tablespoons melted butter
05 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 2 tablespoons sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
07 - 8 wooden skewers

→ Garnishes

08 - Ketchup
09 - Mustard

# Directions:

01 - Set oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for even baking and easy cleanup.
02 - Insert a wooden skewer lengthwise into each hot dog, ensuring that 1 to 2 inches remain exposed for a handle.
03 - Unroll the crescent dough and separate into 8 individual triangles. Top each with a slice of cheese if using.
04 - Position a hot dog at the wide edge of the dough triangle and roll tightly, spiraling the dough around the hot dog.
05 - Space the wrapped hot dogs evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Brush each dough-wrapped hot dog with melted butter, then sprinkle with garlic powder and, if desired, sesame or poppy seeds.
07 - Transfer to the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully baked.
08 - Present while warm, accompanied by ketchup and mustard for dipping.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • Wrapping the hot dogs with dough turns a simple snack into something party-worthy and buzzing with energy.
  • Minimal fuss meets maximum flavor—these are always crowd-pleasers and require almost no special skills.
02 -
  • Don't skip the parchment—my first batch glued itself to the tray and made me wish I'd listened to wiser bakers.
  • Rolling the dough a tad tighter than you think helps it stay put, especially if you're adding cheese inside.
03 -
  • Don't rush the rolling—uneven dough cooks unevenly and can split open in the oven.
  • For a spicy twist, a thin brush of sriracha under the cheese layer gives just enough heat for adventurous eaters.
