- Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Rinse asparagus spears under cold water and pat dry. Snap off tough woody ends or trim with a sharp knife.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine asparagus, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Toss thoroughly until spears are evenly coated.
- Divide seasoned asparagus into 8 equal bundles, approximately 3-4 spears per bundle depending on spear thickness.
- Starting from the bottom, wrap each bundle with one slice of bacon in a spiral pattern, stretching slightly to cover the length. Place bundles seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until bacon is crispy and rendered, and asparagus is tender-crisp. Rotate sheet pan halfway through for even cooking.
- For extra crispy bacon, switch oven to broil and cook for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Transfer bundles to a serving platter using tongs. Serve hot while bacon remains crispy.
