Garlic Bacon Wrapped Asparagus (Print Version)

Crispy bacon bundles with tender garlic asparagus spears

# What You Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 1 lb fresh asparagus spears, woody ends trimmed
02 - 2 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced

→ Meats

03 - 8 slices thin-cut bacon

→ Seasonings & Oils

04 - 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
05 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
06 - 1/4 tsp fine sea salt

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
02 - Rinse asparagus spears under cold water and pat dry. Snap off tough woody ends or trim with a sharp knife.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, combine asparagus, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Toss thoroughly until spears are evenly coated.
04 - Divide seasoned asparagus into 8 equal bundles, approximately 3-4 spears per bundle depending on spear thickness.
05 - Starting from the bottom, wrap each bundle with one slice of bacon in a spiral pattern, stretching slightly to cover the length. Place bundles seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Bake for 18-20 minutes until bacon is crispy and rendered, and asparagus is tender-crisp. Rotate sheet pan halfway through for even cooking.
07 - For extra crispy bacon, switch oven to broil and cook for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
08 - Transfer bundles to a serving platter using tongs. Serve hot while bacon remains crispy.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • The bacon fat bastes the asparagus as it cooks creating an incredible depth of flavor you cannot achieve any other way
  • These look fancy but come together in under ten minutes making you look like a kitchen genius without the stress
02 -
  • Thick asparagus works better than pencil thin spears because they can stand up to the bacon cooking time without becoming mushy
  • Pat your asparagus completely dry before tossing with oil or the garlic will slide right off instead of sticking
03 -
  • Secure the bacon ends with a toothpick if they keep unraveling but remove them before serving
  • Let the bundles rest for 2 minutes after baking so the bacon sets and does not slide off when you move them
