Ham and Cheese Croissant (Print Version)

Buttery croissants stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese, baked until golden and crisp with melted cheese.

# What You Need:

→ Baked Goods

01 - 4 large all-butter croissants, preferably day-old

→ Meats

02 - 4 slices high-quality cooked ham

→ Cheeses

03 - 4 slices Swiss cheese (Gruyère or Emmental)

→ Condiments

04 - 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
05 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Slice each croissant horizontally without cutting all the way through, creating a hinge.
03 - Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard inside each croissant, if desired.
04 - Layer one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese inside each croissant.
05 - Close croissants gently, brush tops with melted butter, and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and croissants are golden and crisp.
07 - Remove from oven and serve immediately while warm.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • Takes 25 minutes from start to finish, but tastes like something from a French bakery
  • Day-old croissants actually work better here than fresh ones, so nothing goes to waste
02 -
  • Slicing cold croissants is way easier than trying to cut into room temperature ones—they hold their shape better
  • Let them cool for about 3 minutes before biting in, or you'll lose that precious molten cheese to your plate
03 -
  • Buy an extra croissant or two because at least one will inevitably get squished during slicing or someone will want seconds immediately
  • If your croissants are super fresh, toast them lightly for 3 minutes before filling so they don't turn to mush in the oven
