Aromatic black tea brewed with warming spices like cinnamon and cardamom for a soothing, fragrant experience.

01 - 4 cups water
02 - 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 4 black tea bags

→ Spices

03 - 1 cinnamon stick
04 - 4 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
05 - 4 whole cloves
06 - 1-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
07 - 1 star anise

→ Sweetener & Garnish

08 - 2-3 tablespoons sugar or honey, to taste

# Directions:

01 - Combine water, cinnamon stick, crushed cardamom pods, cloves, ginger slices, and star anise in a medium saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
02 - Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes to allow spices to fully infuse the water with their aromatic flavors.
03 - Add loose black tea or tea bags to the spiced water. Continue simmering for 3 minutes, or up to 5 minutes for a stronger brew.
04 - Remove from heat and strain the tea through a fine mesh strainer into a teapot or directly into cups. Discard used spices and tea leaves.
05 - Stir in sugar or honey according to taste preferences. Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh lemon slices.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • The spices create this cozy warmth that spreads from your chest to your fingertips, perfect for days when the world feels too cold or too busy
  • It takes just 15 minutes from start to finish but tastes like something you've been simmering all afternoon
  • The recipe is incredibly forgiving and you can adjust the spices to match whatever mood you're in
02 -
  • Don't rush the initial spice simmering step, those few minutes make all the difference between tea that tastes spiced and tea that actually comforts
  • The tea continues to steep even after you remove it from heat, so strain it promptly unless you prefer it on the bitter side
03 -
  • Crush your cardamom pods just before making the tea, the oils start losing their potency as soon as they're exposed to air
  • If the tea tastes too bitter, a tiny pinch of salt will smooth it out without affecting the overall flavor
