Patriotic Pretzel Rods (Print Version)

No-bake pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate, drizzled with red and blue candy melts and finished with sprinkles.

# What You Need:

→ Base

01 - 12 large pretzel rods

→ Chocolate Coating

02 - 4 oz white chocolate or vanilla-flavored candy melts
03 - 2 oz bright red candy melts
04 - 2 oz royal blue candy melts

→ Decorations

05 - 2 tablespoons red, white, and blue nonpareils or star-shaped sprinkles

# Directions:

01 - Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
02 - Place white chocolate or vanilla candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave at 50% power, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth.
03 - Dip each pretzel rod two-thirds of the way into the melted white chocolate, turning gently to coat evenly. Shake off excess and place on the prepared baking sheet.
04 - Place red and blue candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls and melt using the same method as the white chocolate.
05 - Drizzle melted red and blue candy over the white chocolate-covered section of each pretzel rod using a spoon or piping bag to create stripes.
06 - Immediately sprinkle the wet chocolate with red, white, and blue nonpareils or star-shaped sprinkles.
07 - Let the decorated pretzel rods sit at room temperature until completely set, about 15 minutes. For quicker setting, refrigerate for 5 minutes.
08 - Once the chocolate is firm, serve pretzel rods immediately or package in cellophane bags for gifting.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • They look impressively festive, but take just minutes and require no baking at all.
  • Kids (and adults) have as much fun decorating as they do eating them, making these rods a real party magnet.
02 -
  • Skipping the parchment paper can leave you scraping melted chocolate off your counters later—I learned that one the sticky way.
  • Adding sprinkles too late means half of them roll off and you end up with sad, bare spots—speed really is everything here.
03 -
  • Combine rods of different lengths and decorations in one batch—variety always disappears faster!
  • Piping bags make stripes neater, but a fork creates fun splatter effects for the bold at heart.
