02 - 4 slices mild cheddar or Havarti cheese

04 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Directions:

01 - Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
02 - Spread 1/2 tablespoon of butter on one side of each waffle.
03 - Place 2 waffles, buttered side down, on a cutting board.
04 - Spread 1 tablespoon of fruit preserves evenly over each waffle.
05 - Top each with 2 slices of cheese.

08 - Slice in half and serve warm.

# Insider Tips:

01 -
  • The waffle grids create extra crispy edges that hold melted cheese like tiny edible treasure chests
  • Fruit preserves add just enough brightness to cut through rich butter and cheese without overpowering
  • Ready in twenty minutes flat using ingredients you probably already have in your freezer and fridge
02 -
  • Low and slow heat prevents burning the waffle exterior before cheese has time to melt properly
  • Letting the sandwich rest for one minute after cutting keeps hot cheese from running everywhere when you bite in
  • The preserves go on the bottom waffle so heat from the pan helps them soften and meld into the cheese
03 -
  • Use a weighted press or heavy pan on top while cooking for maximum cheese contact and even browning
  • If waffles are too thick gently press them with a rolling pin before assembling to make eating easier
